UW Neural Engineering Tech Studio

The UW’s Neural Engineering Tech Studio showcases new neural engineering technology designed by undergraduate and graduate students.

The UW Neural Engineering Tech Studio was created to give students an opportunity to be creative and innovative with neurotechnology. In this 10-week course, offered once per year, teams of graduate and undergraduate students compete to create novel neural engineering device prototypes that are commercially viable. On March 13, the teams’ final projects are presented to a panel of industry judges in a “shark tank” format. The winning team receives support and mentoring to continue developing their prototype and/or create a startup company.

The event is free and open to the public.

This year’s projects include:

Team Fusion: A spinal support device with stimulation capability to enhance rehabilitation

Engagefy: An attention monitoring system

Myovate: EMG controlled robotics

Kioku: A memory enhancement app for smart phone users

Aurora: Sleep optimization using physiologic monitoring

PanicAway: A smart phone app that assists users in averting or recovering from panic attacks
